REPORTING REQUIREMENT |
The City of Toronto Legal Services Division will report to Board on the Costs Grid from time to time, as required. |

DERIVATION |
|
It is the policy of the Toronto Police Services Board that:
- When external legal counsel is retained, such legal counsel will be paid in accordance with the Costs Grid set out below and in accordance with Part II (Disbursements) of Tariff ”A” to the Rules of Civil Procedure, as amended (hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Tariff”);
- The retention of legal counsel to provide supplementary legal services in the area of employment and labour law issues will be exempt from the Cost Grid set out below;
- The Board, on advice from the City of Toronto Legal Services Division, will review the Costs Grid in the Tariff from time to time;
- Despite the Tariff, the City of Toronto Legal Services Division will assess the reasonableness of the bill submitted by external legal counsel and make a recommendation to the Board for its final decision; and
- In exceptional circumstances, the Board, upon the recommendation of the City of Toronto Legal Services Division, may reimburse for rates in excess of those set out in the Tariff.
