It is the policy of the Toronto Police Services Board that: 

1. The Chief of Police will develop procedures establishing the process to be followed when legal documents are served upon a Service member in proceedings arising out of action taken in the course of duty; 

2. The Chief of Police will develop procedures establishing the process for determining when Service members will be permitted to be interviewed concerning a matter investigated or encountered by the member which may become the subject of a civil action; and 

3. The Chief of Police will ensure that Service members supply all necessary information to assist in conducting civil litigation involving the Board or a member of the Service to counsel acting on behalf of the Board or members of the Service.
