Civilian Members

It is the policy of the Toronto Police Services Board that: 

  1. Civilian members will be classified in one of the following groups:
    1. permanent employees
    2. temporary employees
    3. co-operative education program employees
    4. summer help employees 
  2. All candidates for appointment to permanent and temporary civilian positions, except cadets and cadets-in-training, will:
    1. take an Affirmation/Oath of Secrecy; and
    2. meet any other requirements established by Human Resources Command. 
  1. For positions that, in the opinion of the medical advisor of Occupational Health and Safety, impose significant physical or psychological demands, candidates may be required to undergo a medical examination by or under the supervision of the medical advisor. The purpose of the assessment is to certify that a candidate is fit to perform the duties required. An examination will not be conducted until after a conditional offer of employment has been extended to the candidate.
