REPORTING REQUIREMENT

 

LEGISLATION

Police Services Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.P.15, as amended, s. 31(1)(c).

Human Rights Code, R.S.O. 1990, as amended, ss. 1, 7(2).

DERIVATION

Rule 4.2.0 – Conduct

 It is the policy of the Toronto Police Services Board that: 

  1. The Chief of Police will establish procedures to ensure the professional conduct of Service members at all times and, further, to ensure that members will not discriminate, or attempt to persuade others to discriminate, against any person because of race, ancestry place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed (religion), sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, record of offences, marital status, family status, and disability or receipt of public assistance; 
  1. The Chief of Police will establish procedures to ensure that members will not act in a disorderly manner or in any manner likely to bring discredit on the reputation of the Toronto Police Service; and 
  1. The Chief of Police will ensure there is a process in place to discipline members who violate the foregoing procedures and ensure that these discipline procedures are consistently and appropriately applied to all Service members.
