POLICE BOARD TO MEET ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 26, 2017

TORONTO:  The next scheduled meeting of the Toronto Police Services Board will take place on Thursday January 26, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Auditorium, 40 College Street.  Copies of the agenda are available on the Board’s website at www.tpsb.ca, from the Board office and limited copies will be available at the meeting.

Items of interest include:

ELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE-CHAIR
In accordance with section 28 of the Police Services Act, which provides that the Board is required to elect a Chair at its first meeting in each year, the Board members will elect a Chair of the Toronto Police Services Board.

The Board members will also elect a Vice Chair of the Toronto Police Services Board in accordance with section 5(4) of the Toronto Police Services Board Procedural By-Law No. 107.

PRESENTATION OF FINAL REPORT BY TRANSFORMATIONAL TASK FORCE
Two members of the Transformational Task Force (TTF), Ms. Michelle DiEmanuele, President and C.E.O., Trillium Health Partners and Staff Sergeant Greg Watts, Toronto Police Service, will present an overview of the Final Report of the Transformational Task Force, “The Action Plan: The Way Forward.” Copies of the Final Report will be available at the Board meeting.  While deputations will be accepted at the January meeting immediately after the report is released, the report will be deferred to the February 23, 2017 meeting for full consideration.  Members of the public will have one month to review the report and deliver final deputations in February.

RESPONSE TO INQUEST RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING DEATH OF KATELYNN SAMPSON
The Board will consider a report from Chief Saunders with respect to the Service’s response to the jury recommendations from the Coroner’s inquest into the death of Katelynn Angel Sampson.  The recommendations focus on protocol and liaison development between the Service and the Children’s Aid Societies, and training and procedures related to child abuse and neglect.

CITY COUNCIL MOTION REGARDING RE-EXAMINATION OF TORONTO POLICE SERVICE SCOUT CAR GRAPHICS
The Board will consider a report from the Chair recommending that the Chief submit a report to the Board in response to City Council recommendations pertaining to the colour and graphics of Toronto Police Service scout cars.  The recommendations arise from public concern about the new grey police cruisers proposed for purchase.
