POLICE BOARD TO MEET ON THURSDAY APRIL 20, 2017

TORONTO:  The next scheduled meeting of the Toronto Police Services Board will take place on Thursday April 20, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Auditorium, 40 College Street.  Copies of the agenda are available on the Board’s website at www.tpsb.ca, from the Board office and limited copies will be available at the meeting.

PRESENTATION – SUPPORTING THE PSYCHOLOGICAL HEALTH OF OUR MEMBERS
 
The Board will hear a presentation from Service representatives and receive a report with respect to the issue of supporting the psychological health of our members.  The presentation includes information about the internal mental health resources available to Service members, including psychological services, the Occupational Health and Safety Unit and initiatives being coordinated by the Toronto Police College.  The presentation will also provide details of the Service’s Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Prevention Plan.
 
CITY OF TORONTO COUNCIL – 2017 CAPITAL AND OPERATING BUDGETS
The Board will consider a report from the Chief with respect to the City of Toronto Council’s consideration of the Service’s 2017 capital and operating budgets and the Board’s 2017 operating budget.  In February 2017, Council approved the budgets, and adopted a number of motions specifically directed to the Board, including a motion dealing with divisional boundary and facilities realignment, as a result of the Transformational Task Force’s recommendations, and a motion requesting a report on the current status and cost of the School Resource Officer program.  
 
REQUEST FOR FEEDBACK ON POLICE STREET CHECKS – PUBLIC AWARENESS
The Board will consider correspondence from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services with respect to a request for feedback on the Ministry’s public education campaign materials in relation to the Regulation regarding the Collection of Identifying Information in Certain Circumstances, also known as Street Checks.  The materials include web content, social media materials and a printable poster and fact sheet.  The Board has included this correspondence on its agenda to solicit input from the public.   
 
ANNUAL REPORT – PUBLIC SECTOR SALARY DISCLOSURE
The Board will consider a report from the Chief with respect to the 2016 Annual Report on public sector salary disclosure.  In accordance with the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996, the Toronto Police Service is required to disclose the names, positions, salaries and taxable benefits of employees who were paid $100,000 or more in a year.  As the report indicates, in 2015, 4758 employees earned more than $100,000; this includes 1667 employees whose base salary is normally under $100,000.  The earnings for these employees were the result of their combined base salary, premium pay, paid duty earnings and other payouts, including final payments upon separation.
