PRESENTATION – VICTIM SERVICES TORONTO
The Board will receive a presentation from Ms. Bonnie Levine, Executive Director and Ms. Bobbie McMurrich, Associate Executive Director, Victim Services Toronto. The presentation will emphasize the vision of Victim Services Toronto – to increase access for victims and witnesses. It will also outline the largest program, the Victim Crisis Response Program, which assists individuals and families in Toronto who have been victimized by crime or sudden tragedy, and the F.A.S.T Program, the centralized case management model for victims of domestic violence.
REPORTS ARISING FROM CHIEF’S ADMINISTRATIVE INVESTIGATIONS
The Board will consider three reports from the Chief regarding administrative investigations into the deaths or serious injuries (including sexual assaults) of members of the public, which are mandated whenever the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been notified. The Chief has developed a public reporting process for these reports following a request by the Board in May of this year. The reports include a discussion of the details of each incident, a summary of the Service’s investigation, including any relevant procedures or legislation which has been reviewed, and a determination as to whether remedial measures were necessary.
